It's that time of year again!
Here are a few Tick truths every dog owner should know:
- There are more than 800 species of ticks. the most common species found in the US are: the American Dog tick, the Lone Star tick, the Brown Dog tick and the Black-Legged or Deer tick.
- Ticks have several life stages: egg, lava (a.k.a. "seed tick"), nymph and adult stages. All stages except for the egg need a blood meal to progress to each stage in their life cycle.

- Ticks can transmit a variety of diseases to pets and humans including Lymes disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever and Ehrlichiosis.

So remember to speak to your veterinarian about tick preventatives and the proper ways to remove ticks from your pets.
